Call for speakers

Speaker applications for WordCamp Auckland 2017 are now open! Closing 7th February 2017.

We are still taking late submissions. Schedule to be announced next week.

This year’s WordCamp will take place 11th – 12th March 2017. This is your moment to shine. We’d love to hear from you!

With the last WordCamp Auckland taking place in 2014 – we’ve had a big of gap, but we’ve been actively hosting meetups and the time is right to do a WordCamp!

We are calling for speakers from in and around Auckland, New Zealand and beyond (:winking_face_at_australia:) to submit a talk idea and be part of the #WCAKL magic.

Don’t delay, apply now! Applications close at 23:59, 7th Februrary.

What to expect

If you are considering attending WordCamp Auckland, why not seize the opportunity to share your experience with WordPress in front of a friendly audience?

You’ll be in-front of the friendliest crowd imaginable, full of people who have paved similar pathways to your talk and understand you completely right down to people who are hearing about WordPress for the first time.

Your talk could be the catalyst for other people to get involved, or that ‘aha’ moment people are waiting for.

What can I talk about?

Anything you like! The WordPress ecosystem and community do such a variety of different things with WordPress – whether that’s designing, writing content, building businesses, or expanding functionality – we want to hear it all.

Also check out the Call for Topic post where we have been encouraging people share what they would like to hear about at the next production.

How long should my talk be?

Good question. We’ve got some time guidelines below, but we can lock in these times ahead of the WordCamp – yay, you!

  • Lightning talks: (maximum of 10 mins with a group Q&A)
  • Long form talks: (maximum of 40 mins inclusive of Q&A)
  • Workshop: (maximum of 40 mins)
  • Ideas for panels (maximum of 40 mins inclusive of Q&A)

Got no previous speaking experience?

No matter. We would love to have you aboard and will be available to help you develop your topic, craft your slides and hone your talk.
